Old Florida, right here! I've lived on coastal Florida for 30 years (Sarasota, Bradenton, Naples and West Palm Beach) and I can tell you that there aren't a whole lot of these natural places left for regular folks to visits and enjoy that are close to your home. Palmetto is still a hidden gem; home prices are still low and jobs are available in nearby St. Pete and Sarasota. The Emerson Point Estuary has been preserved by the state and has parking, bathrooms, a Ranger station, hiking trails and park benches. Sorry, no overnight camping. It's a destination - once you arrive, you won't want to leave!

There are a ton of trails to walk or bike and an insane amount of birds. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot I saw a heron stalk and catch a lizard! Beautiful scenery and easy trails to walk. Just make sure you remember which entrance you parked at cuz it's a big place!

This place is a true treasure! Spent a few hours on a Sunday afternoon enjoying the sun, watching the water, walking around. Decided right off the bat to return again and again whenever I’m in the area. Birds, fish, shells, skies, trees, all these amazing parts of nature are so beauty displayed at this reserve. Take pictures, leave footprints is so true. Families were picnicking, kayaking, and splashing in the water. So enjoyable!

Beautiful park. Lots of nice trails for walking. There is a tower with great views of the Skyway Bridge. There is also a kayak launch with mangrove tunnels or you can head out to the Gulf.

As mentioned we also saw people fishing in hipwaders off the boadwalk
There is a area before the beach on the left side for parking a large vehicles.
Call manatee county parks and recreation, the pavillion is about $100 / day
Yes there is. First left then stay right and follow to the end. Also a pavilion with grills.
There is also access to water in several spots along the trails.
Yes your can fish (hook and line only, no netting allowed) on any exterior waters and wade fish anywhere the trail provides access to the water, mostly at the Point but there is some access along the north side of the road as well. You will need to follow all state fishing regulations including a saltwater license.
There is a bike trail along the main drive that goes out to the Point.
There are a lot of boardwalk paths that are stroller friendly. Some other paths beyond the boardwalk ones are not as accessible. Tree roots that stick up or steep inclines.
