Did a little three mile loop here, tons of mayflies here as well. Hartford Beach on the South Dakota side is better in my opinion.

Do you like water? Do you like native prairie grasses and flowers? Do you like beaches or hikes? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you should be happy here. Neat park decent camping. Camping sites are park is mostly prairie, so bring a sun shade.

Campsite was beautiful, right on the lake. But the lake smelled like sewage and was bright green. The swimming beach was covered with seaweed and algae. Despite my best judgment my kids and I tried swimming and it was gross - smelly and the water felt. . . thick. There were very few trails and nowhere to bike so we got bored without swimming. as an option. We did enjoy a lovely sunset and stargazing later, which is the only reason this park garnered a 2nd star.

I didn't see any
We also had tent sites right on the lake. We could have launched off the shore in floaties, but did not. The previous comment on boat traffic is accurate - a lot (over a dozen) different boats were just offshore fishing throughout each day we were there. Not a bad thing, per se. There were also a number of canoes and kayaks each day. Quite a number of campers had boats as people come here to fish. That said, it was beautiful - with surprisingly few bugs -and the birds - if you're in to that - were amazing.
Yes they do
Water and showers are available May 1st to October 4th but vault toilets are available all year. The campground is open from April 24th to October 18th.
Water was turned off as of Oct 22,17. Will Be turned on for South Dakota and Minnesota Borders fishing opener in April.
