I had such a great experience working with Vic and his loan processor, Althea. Vic was super busy at the time because everyone is refinancing, but always picked up the phone and had time to explain things and discuss options. Communication was clear and concise from both Vic and Althea, they were both helpful and friendly, and they both worked very hard to get our loan processed in lightening speed. I never thought I'd have such a great experience with a mortgage broker (who has great experiences with mortgage brokers?), but I did. It might be tempting to apply for your home loan through the bank you're familiar with. But if you do, you’ll be disappointed to find your options severely limited. The bank underwriter’s job is to look for any risk to their employer as first priority. They are not in the business of helping buyers learn about mortgage loans and make good loans. In other words, their job is to protect their employer.
NO! First, rates change all day long. When you request a quote, a data sifter compiles all of the rates available at that moment. In the best case scenario, what you see in the results display is the lowest, most unattainable rate. In the worst case, you might see bogus information designed to mislead people. Online rate quotes are a risky way to shop, because they’re there only to entice consumers to submit their personal information. Only a consultation with an experienced mortgage consultant can give you honest, useful information that isn't skewed toward some bank's profit-making machine.
