Rowdy my puppy loves this place. Second visit he got loose from leash but ran straight to front door and waited on me. His pictures always show him looking happy and having fun. I recommend this place to anyone who loves their pup and don’t mind spending a little on them!!

Unfortunately I will not be taking my dog back to Pet Resort. I scheduled a 10 day stay for my dog while my husband and I were on a trip for a family wedding out of the country. Paid for the gold package and the suite so he would be comfortable and happy. Everything seemed to be going well in the updates until I received a text from the vet asking if my dog could be prescribed medication to help with his anxiety. I agreed and then the updates kept coming in positive. A few days later I get a voicemail stating that my dog has been doing really poorly (which I was confused about bc of all the daily updates being positive this far) and stating that they were now worried about aggression and wouldn't probably let him lodge with them any longer. This was 3 days away from the day I had to pick him up while I'm in another country. I scrambled to find someone available to pick him up since I didn't feel comfortable having him stay there any longer. Didn't appreciate how they approached the situation and that I was being threatened that I wouldn't be welcome anymore if he didn't improve (there was literally nothing I could do while I'm in another country besides cut my trip short). Considering that this is a pet lodging facility you would assume the staff would be prepared to handle anxious dogs, specially when he has gone through their most expensive training in a previous stay and they were already aware of his anxiety/shyness from previous stays and didn't raise that as a concern to let him stay with them again. To top it off they forgot to give him the bag I had packed for him when he was picked up, and when I went to pick it up one of their workers tells me "Oh your dog was so sweet" If you have anxious dogs make sure to look for lodging elsewhere.

Could not love Pet Resort in the Gardens more!! Every single one of the very plentiful staff and managers are professional, thorough, and super friendly. We drive 35 minutes from Lewisville, twice a year as the experience is just so good. The dogs love going!! They love their play time package a lot! Being in close proximity to Dr Farrell is helpful with our Senior rescue.

After evacuating from hurricane Ida and in her aftermath, we had nowhere to board our dog for a trip. We went to DFW-area looking for air conditioning during the blackout and a boarding place for our Doberman. Our Doberman happened to be in heat and that makes it very difficult to find a place. The Pet Resort team made special arrangements to house Callie while we were gone on our trip to Guatemala, which was disrupted and rerouted from NOLA from the hurricane. The place was very clean and the people were very friendly and professional. They sent pictures of Callie each day having her special walks. It’s very difficult to leave your dog for nine days, but they made me feel very comfortable about that!! Here she is checking out our flooded road.

Questions & Answers

Hello hello uhm I am very concerned so after reading the reviews I saw two comments saying their dogs got ear infections , and one saying their cat got sick which is EXTREMELY concerning, how can I ensure my dog is safe (she’s 3 years)

I do know that even one bad review makes one pause when considering a service; especially when that service is caring for our fur babies! Just like humans though, animals do have illnesses. We have a strict vaccination policy which protects against most of the common illnesses. There are viruses and such for which there are no vaccinations available; like the common cold we humans deal with. (We can all understand that just coming out of Covid!) If an illness ever does begin while a pet is in our care, our on-campus medical team contacts the owner and gets treatment started. Please don't assume that there is malicious or negligent cause and effect based on a couple of reviews. Please come by at your convenience and take a tour. I think you will feel much more comfortable. -Mary Turner, Owner of Pet Resort in the Gardens

Can you accommodate a really large dog like a Borzoi?

We can indeed, but we would like to meet you and your dog to make sure the resort is a good fit; make sure our fences are adequate and the disposition of your pup appropriate for our setting. Call 817-635-5510 to schedule a Meet and Greet!

Is there staff on site during the night and on sundays when you are closed?

Hi Carolyn! Thanks for the great question. I’m sure there are hours your pet is home without you and does just fine sleeping the time away. Our guests sleep well at night, because they have had such a fun-filled day of activities! Our crew tucks each one in as they leave around 10pm, then the morning crew arrives by 6:45am to get everyone out for the morning potty walk and breakfast.

We customize our care based on the individual pet and options chosen for each pet, so it is difficult to simply say $X.XX. For dogs, lodging starts as low as $32.95 and for cats lodging starts at only $19. We offer discounted activity packages, obedience training, dog daycare, and bathing services. If you are shopping around by price, be sure to ask what all is included in that pricing! Stop by for a tour or call our reservationists; they can get all your questions answered quickly.

How much for 9 days and are the requirements for shots?

Rosemary Hatcher | Aug 20, 2019
Phyllis Ware | Aug 21, 2019

Rosemary Hatcher, Pet Resort in the Gardens is a first class facility and they require all pets to have all of their shots, including the flu shot, no exceptions. You need to contact them direct for pricing information, because there are different boarding options, including private rooms. They aren't cheap, but neither is the love and care they provide. I would never consider boarding anywhere else!
