I negotiated with the salesman via e-mail and phone for a New Forester my son wanted to buy that had to be ordered. I had the pricing from the salesperson and my son went in and they wouldn't commit to the price they gave me (they were off by a few hundred dollars) but what I thought was even more odd was that the salesman said we could leave a deposit for the car and get a proper receipt from the dealership for deposit only but he said he could not give us a any sort of written quote with cost of the car from the dealership itself but he could write out something from him on a piece of paper. I am 67 and have bought MANY cars in my life and I have never heard of such a thing. We went there to buy a car but obviously we can't do business that way, it did not make any sense to me. My son already had a written quote from another Subaru dealer but since we got a better price on the phone and e-mails from the salesperson we decided to buy at Marin Subaru but I thought it was too sketchy to do business like that.

Was on the market for an outback, emailed and visited a number of dealers around the Bay. Hans was very responsive and helpful over email, and once we got to the Subaru of Marin dealership there were no surprises or gotchas. Hans helped us out to find the outback Wilderness we were looking for, and was friendly, helpful and thoughtful throughout. After test driving, we ended up purchasing the Wilderness and got a great deal. Thanks for your help Hans! We're very happy with our experience and our new car.

This dealership is what new car buying SHOULD be i worked with Linnea when i was purchasing a 2022 Brz she made the buying process super simple and worry free. No insane mark up like some of the other dealerships. They also accommodated my crazy schedule by staying later for me so i could pick up my vehicle. This message is regarding my experience with selling my Subaru to George Nassif. We exchanged emails to share information and arrange a time to inspect my vehicle. George offered me $21,500 for my used Subaru. During and after the inspection, he did not state and issues with my vehicle and he provided me documentation the vehicle had no issues. He then offered me $17,500 for my vehicle. When confronted on the price difference while finding no issues with my car, George said the $21,500 initial offer was to get me into his office. He then rambled about having to put $2000 into the car to make it certified preowned and an additional $500 for marketing and advertising. He said he could not sell the car for more than $20,000. I asked how another vehicle, which was the same model but a year older and had 10,000 more miles than my car, was being sold for $24,000? George had no answer. I also asked how respectable on-line vehicle valuation sites (Kelly Blue Book, JD Power) listed my car at $23,000, George rambled those sites cannot be trusted. George never returned follow-up emails and phone calls. This is proof he only wants to deal with people who will believe him. George was hoping I was desperate and a sucker to fall for his phony sales tactics. In the end, he only cared about misleading me to make a 35% profit margin. I will never do business with Subaru Marin again.
