The roux class was an intimate, hands-on cooking class of 4, not just a demo. Dave was such a patient, experienced chef and gracious host with wonderful stories and great tips for each of us. He answered all of our questions with an ease and depth of knowledge, along with making sure we were well fed. Terrific way to sample delectable local cuisine, learn about the Cajun and Creole cultures, and sharpen your skills in the kitchen. Dont miss this one!

My dad and I had a great experience with Chef Chris and his sauces class. We lucked out getting a private lesson as we're the only ones to sign up for his class that particular Monday. We enjoyed every minute of our time with Chris learning not just about the preparation of the three dishes - best meal of our time in New Orleans - but also getting his local perspective on the diverse culture and history of the city. His restaurant recommendations were also spot on - stop by Bon Creole in New Iberia for the best (and biggest) shrimp po'boy my dad and I have ever had! Will be signing up again with Chef Chris the next time we visit. Thanks again, Chef!

Loved the class! Chef Chris is an excellent teacher. Class was fun, educational, and the food was outstanding. Our class was small (4) which made the class fun, more hands on, and definitely made it worth it. The recipes provided at the end of the class were slightly different than the way Chef Chris taught, but I’ll take his variations every time. Delicious! Took the creole class: Menu BBQ N.O. Shrimp (oh my!) Jambalaya (andouille sausage and Tasso Ham)…definitely a comfort food! Chocolate chip bread pudding with a brandy glaze (could eat this every day and never get tired of it!) If you’re in New Orleans, do this class :-)

Chef Barry was awesome! He was great with hands on and helped give us tips to anything we asked! He also showed us different techniques on how to do things. The food was amazing, with his help of course. It was very intimate and fun.

Questions & Answers

Do you offer kids cooking classes!

yes we do allow kids with their parents in our classes.

Do you ever offer classes that don’t involve shellfish? I am allergic and every offering seems to feature shrimp. If it’s a very small area and I get spattered, or someone plates then removes it I will have an issue.

Our Best option for Shellfish allergies is our Roux class. We make Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Shrimp Etouffee ( we sub chicken for the shrimp) and Bananas Foster. We would have you make a separate pan of the Etouffee from everyone else. Another great class is the Traditions class. New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp (sub Chicken), Chicken and Andouille Sausage Jambalaya and Chocolate Bread Pudding.
