Midway Car Rental Downtown Los Angeles

I rented a car for a trip that my family and I were going on for the weekend. When I arrived (20 minutes early) to pick up the car, I was told that because I was there early, my rental period would start early. That wasn't a big deal to me except for the fact that it took 55 minutes after that conversation for them to have car ready for me to pick up. When I finally got the car, it was obvious the car had been in an accident (see pictures I've attached to this review) and I was sure to note it with the rep who was helping me. I drove the car home since we were leaving the following day and within 3 miles of driving, the front right turn signal went out and threw an error message onto the dash. I called them the next morning since by this time they were closed for the day and they told me to bring it to any of their locations in LA to swap the car out. I work in Sherman oaks but live closer to downtown so I opted to bring it to their van nuys location since I was at work and was planning on leaving for the trip directly from work later that day. When I got there, they were in disbelief that the downtown LA location gave me a car in this condition. After I showed them the pictures and timestamps, they told me that I'd have to drive back to the original location since they "don't accept damaged cars." I explained the situation to them multiple times and how I needed to leave for the trip by 5pm which is when they closed so that wouldn't work. After speaking to the regional manager, they essentially told me to deal with it or go back to the original location. As I was driving away in the damaged vehicle, a rep came out said that "they would make an exception this ONE time." Not only did I receive a damaged vehicle but asking them to own up to their mistakes was like pulling teeth. I don't think asking for a working vehicle at a rental car company is such an outlandish request. I will never rent from this company again. They were the cheapest last minute and I see why. If you choose to rent from them, take A LOT of pictures and really look at the car before you drive off.

We rented a car the week after the super bowl when almost no rental cars were available. Despite an initial minor car issue our rental experience with this company was good. The manager at this location, Richard, was kind and helpful. He dealt with our issue in a professional way, flexible, and very responsive even after we returned the vehicle.
