I had found a dog I was interested in on their website on Monday while I was up in the overland park area. Not being from the area or familiar with the shelter I went to the shelter not knowing they were appointment only that day. When a lady came to the door she also let me.know that and I let her know I'm all the way from Atchison and after letting her know which dog I was interested in she went to see if I could meet him. I was able to and hours later I adopted yarrow. This humaines society from the adoption stand point seemed to really care about the animals in their care. They let you know what's wrong with the animal as they let me know that the one I was adopting showed signs of hip dysplasia which can happen in bigger dogs. they also prepare you more than any shelter I've been to and send you home with everything needed for your new best friend. That being said make sure you go with a leash and color or cat carrier cause you can't leave with a pet unless they are in a carrier or leashed so if you don't bring one you'll need to buy one, but that money Im sure goes to and hps the shelter. Anyways really good adoption experience and I would recommend the. Above several other places.

Love this place! Great staff, so much caring of animals and so much love. Visited a few weeks ago and felt so much at home. Thank you for all you do to care for so many animals!

Extremely thankful for Great Plains uniting us with our sweet Polly. They counseled us through what to expect as first time pet owners and helped ensure that we were a great match for our dog and she was the right match for us. They have been there as support every step of the way.

Great Plains SPCA is really GREAT! We have gotten 2 wonderful animals through them. The staff is excellent, have had great service. Great Plains SPCA is helping rescue animals and making a positive difference in the community. If you want an animal, I recommend adopting a rescue, and looking at Great Plains SPCA to find them. We took a long time trying to find the right dog. The 1st dog we adopted didn't work out with our situation and had to return her. We ended up eventually finding another dog who is a great fit with us. We had so many adoption appointments to see dogs and the staff was patient with us. Highly recommend!

Picture of your boxer. Does he like other dogs and does he like to go in the car to person and for outings?
We have two male cats and we are on a fixed income they need to be fixed and get a distemper shots + two other cats that need to get their distemper shots too.is there a free service that I can take them too.
If you live in Kansas, Great Plains SPCA is a fine place to take her. If you live in KC, you will have to go through KC Pet Project. The shelters are only able to take pets that orginally lived within their jurisdiction. Hope this helps!
They are a no kill shelter but they do ask for a fee donation to take the cats. Unfortunately they are usually full with cats but you can try. Also wayside waifs and KC pet project is having a big adoption event this weekend. Also unleashed in Mission. I hope they have been fixed that will make them much more adoptable. Please try these places and dont just let them go. That would be very cruel. Also make a serious effort to find a home for them. Good luck
Very rare to find but not impossible at the shelters. Good luck
Yes I'm pretty sure that they will be able to help you out with your little family
Yes i would sugest you to do that as wilp
You can adopt a dog the same day you come in to visit. If you have a dog already, the dogs would need to meet before the adoption is final. Also, all members of the family who live in the home need to meet the dog before the adoption can be completed, too. We can process an adoption in 2 hours or less if everything is ready!
Most likely yes
Most people abandoned them in front pet stores and very few take them to a pet adoption center like great plains spca pet center according to a discussions I over heard at Animal convention in Kansas.
No, you cannot. They have to be taken to your regular vet clinic.
Very sorry for your loss. Yes, you can donate unable used clothing. There is a donation bin right by the front door. Thank you for thinking of Great Plains SPCA.
Try the SPCA they will find a good home for your dog. He is that or wayside waifs
Post on fb to free animals of Kansas.
Great Plains does not have public vet services. You can contact Pet Resource Center, formerly Spay and Neuter KC as they assist with those services.
This is not the place for this
How long... Age..weight..male/female...is it good with other animals
You should be fine. I don't see why they wouldn't let you adopt for that
You should be able to get 2 miniature bulldogs at one of the agency's. Give them your name and number so they can reach you if something comes in. It took me quite some time to get the dog I wanted but definitely worth the wait.
You can take them to Great Plains SPCA . Spaying and neutering are not cheap, especially for 4 cats.
Call your Animal Control Officer. Most of them have agreements with the SPCA to take abused animals to a "no kill" shelter But they have the authority to remove the animal.
They accept all kinds for donation.
Hi, Great Plains is no longer the operator of the Jackson County Regional Animal Shelter. The City of Independence is operating that shelter, and you can find more information on their website: https://www.ci.independence.mo.us/IPD/AnimalServices Please feel free to come to our Merriam campus if you're interested in adopting from us again! www.greatplainsspca.org/adopt
Yes, you have to be 18 years of age to adopt a pet, or have a parent with you to adopt a pet as a familiar if you are younger than 18.
I would try a farm sanctuary.
They have young kittens there, but their inventory changes of course. Their website would be your best bet seeing what they currently have.
Depends on the age of the kitten - sometimes just a few months difference in age will yield a change in the price from $150 to $45.
You can look at the cats available for adoption on their website, at both locations.
Check their Facebook. The do $9.00 adoptions occasionally. My daughter got her kitten during their last one. It was truly $9.00. And bring a carrier if you're serious so you don't have to buy one.
They accept used linens, paper towels, pet supplies, detergent and cleaning supplies, and pet supplies, full bags of food and treats in addition to money.
That would be OK but the pillow case won't last very long.
