Another beautiful MN State Park full of history. Because of road closures I land by the picnic area. Started my hike through the river valley - it had just rained & had to walk carefully because there where so many frogs & toads! Eventually ended up in the prairie which was full of amazing views. Trail had so good hills! Ended with the walking tour of the former agency. A very kind ranger waved when I came in & when I was packing up to leave she drove by & checked to make sure all was well - appreciated!!!

We stayed at site W2 which was beautiful! A lot of space and shade, awesome night skies with minimum light pollution.

Love this park, Rangers are nice and friendly, park is quiet. Bathroom and showers are kept clean. Lots of trails to hike, and most importantly, it is never crowded even when the park os full.

Located in the Minnesota River Valley, this state park seemingly offers little on paper, but delivers in person. On the smaller side, this park still manages to pack in a decent picnic area, walking tour of the former Agency compound and a smaller campground nestled in the valley. The campground features 3 tipis available to reserve and stay in. A treat not found in other state parks. Quiet, quaint and not far off the beaten path. A good option where relaxation or house activities is desired and not water-based or extensive hiking.
