Cool place, nice architecture. I wish they had more information about the modernist architecture in town. It's a unique character here and I was expecting a little more. . Get the map for the self guided tour ($5) and start exploring. All the people here were very friendly though

Palm Springs has been on my bucket list for about 20 years. I walked in and I was sold a map that showed where all the mid century modern homes where I was thrilled. Best $5 I could spend. I loved driving around and seeing all of the beautiful houses. There are lots of shops and the staff and people there were very friendly. Highly recommend checking this visitor center out as it used to be an old service station that they have restored and saved. I love the preservation of this town and I can't wait to come back.

On Hwy 111, right by the Palm Springs Welcome sign, is the visitors center. Formerly a gas station, it is now on the Historic National Register because of its iconic modernism design. Inside, you will find numerous books on Palm Springs and pamphlets with an array of tours. An abundance of souvenirs beckons you to buy them for your friends back home.

I wish they had longer hours, by the time we came back from the tram at 6 was already closed so we're the restrooms. At 118° F snack shop were closed at the tram and we were hoping to grab something at the visitor center before we left back to LA. But not even vending machines, or coins restrooms. Place was quiet.

They have just changed to weekend schedules all week, so not sure where they go now.
Angels Thrift Shop, picked up a hoodie on my honeymoon here. Great shop
Yes. We did the mid-century modern architecture tour using a map from the visitor center. $5 iirc. Staff were very helpful.
Pools at hotels. I don't think the water park on gene autrey aid open.
They are on the other side of town, but driving around town is very easy.
Staff can probably point out the best neighborhoods for seeing the houses
