I think most people try to visit Red Rocks Park since it's more well known but there's a bit of a hassle with the amphitheater and certain closing times. Roxborough is off the beaten path and probably lesser known but hands down a better experience and well worth the drive. The easy walking paths are simple enough for everyone and probably even suitable for motorized ADA devices that can handle fine gravel. The more advanced paths will get you up close and personal with the trees and the rocks. The park is known as being a "tranquil and treasured place" and it lives up to this description as the park is so quiet and peaceful.

Awesome park with great views! We did the Fountain Valley Trail. It was pretty easy and good if you're hiking with kids. You can even take a scroller. There's limited parking, though. Make sure to get there early or they might be closed or you have to wait for others to leave.

Wonderful little park to visit on sunny days. If you plan on arriving in the summer. Plan on arriving early to ensure you don’t have to wait to get into the park with its limited capacity. There is a bathroom on the grounds but it’s a traditional outdoor bathroom so don’t expect a 5 star hotel. Well worth the walk and the view of you get a chance to visit!

Roxborough State Park is one of the best state parks in Colorado in my opinion. The red rocks really make this park special and you have a completely different experience depending on which season you hit the park. The lights and shadows interplaying with the rocks are amazing to see in person. The Willow Creek Loop is my favorite trail here and you get amazing views on the loop. I highly recommend doing this park after a fresh snow because the contrast of the snow against the red rocks is epic. This is also one of my favorite places to shoot in the fall but no matter when you go you will love this park!

The State Park is a Wildlife Preserve and natural area. Recreation is limited to day hikes, no pets so as to protect the area. That being said, it's a super-beautiful place to visit.
Roxborough State Park is day use only, September hours are 7am-7pm.
Yes, the park does allow small weddings. Please visit our website and look for the fees and permits section for more information.
There is. And they let you borrow hiking poles for free which is really awesome.
I didn't see any creeks.
We offer an electric golf cart (Rox-Ride) that is driven by a volunteer naturalist and goes around the Fountain Valley Trail. You can sign up on Eventbrite for Fridays, Saturday, and the first Sunday of the month. You can schedule a special Rox-Ride on Monday & Tuesday by calling 303-973-3959 and ask for Angel. Need at least a week to find a driver.
While bicycles are allowed to ride on the Entrance Road, Roxborough State Park is a hiking only venue where nature can be viewed at a slow pace on two feet. While this may seem overly restrictive to some, this is an effort to specialize in one specific type of outdoor recreation and maximize the experience for that activity. If you are interested in mountain biking activities at other State Parks, Chatfield State Park, Staunton State Park, and Golden Gate Canyon State Park are great alternatives. Other nearby public lands include Waterton Canyon, Deer Creek Canyon, and Bear Creek.
There is a gate that does not open until 7am
Yes, you can buy a year long pass that is good at all Colorado state parks or you can buy a day pass for. $7.00.
No. Removing natural materials from the park is prohibited. I would suggest looking in National Forest lands nearby.
The state park is not affiliated with the neighborhood
Thank you for asking. Unfortunately pets are not allowed in the park. Bring your camera though, chances are you will see a lot of wildlife.
Thank you for your question. The answer would be no, Roxborough does not allow the discharge of firearms anywhere within the State Park.
