An employee gave us a lot of helpful information and was very informed and caring towards the birds in the store.

If you want a bird as a pet this place may work for you. We went looking for a wild bird bath of which they had none.

Well I do love this place for bird related shopping. The main lady (forgot her name!) is very nice and very knowledgeable. I did have to knock one star off and here is why I bought a lovebird from here over a year ago and when I purchased it I got a blood test to verify the gender. They told me my bird was a boy. Over the months I noticed it was displaying female behavior so I reached out to verify and a 2nd lady (also nice) said she was very knowledgeable in lovebirds and she was sure it was a boy. Ok cool. Fast forward a little over a year and there are eggs all over my bird's cage! Now for me it isn't a huge deal. But I did pay for the test (wasnt overly expensive) and I could see how a bad test could create a bad situation for someone who has multiple birds. So I just want to put that out there.

I went to Birdsmart today to check them out. I was very pleased with Kara and other workers there. I went in to check on parakeets and was very pleased with the selection of birds. They told me that they raise and trained the babies which most bird stores don't do. The bird supplies were plentiful. I will be back soon to get our new trained bird.

No not really, but they do have some pink chested cokatoos that talk.
Yes, they do watch birds for as long as you need.

Go on a slow morning to avoid too many customers. They leave the doors locked, so knock when you get there. All the employees wear masks and practice social distancing. I would highly recommend!
Competitive pricing, but so much value in KNOWELEDGE OF STAFF.
Oh, hold on. Has she ever had a parrot before? Can she spend lots of time with it? And you need to take your mom into the store to see if she and the bird are right for each other. Parrots are fairly expensive. But cockatiels and parakeets are fairly priced. Parrots and parakeets are social animals and love to be with people. So if you guys cannot spend time with the bird and don't want him in your living room, it might not be such a good idea. But work Birdsmart is a very good place to buy a bird. The birds are well care for and I think if you decide this is for you, it's a great place to buy your bird. Good luck.
They do get in baby birds of various kinds. I would call and ask what they currently have. Jenny is the owner
Yes they do sell cockatiels. They run between $35.00 and up. If you are truly interested in a cockatiel might I suggest that you go, stand there next to the cage and see which bird comes up to you. That would be the one that you would want to pick.
The prices vary depending on the size and breed of the bird.
What kind of bird do you have?
Like anything, fear comes from not knowing. Take time to sit and talk with your bird. Start letting him out of his house. Make sure his wings are cut. I know people allow their birds to fly around their house, and that's often when birds fly into walls and windows and break their necks. Anyway, take a little time to get to know your bird and let him get to know you. When you feel a little bit more comfortable with each other, take him in the bathroom and hold him up against your chest and just start working with him. Eventually he will learn not to be afraid of you and be easily tamed. I'm almost 70 years old and I've had birds since I was five and I've trained a lot of them not to be scared and it's easy to do parakeets. They do not bite badly; like my cockatoo does when he bites me. Just take him in the bathroom, hold him gently and talk with him. You got this!!!!
They sometimes have people that will take your bird home to work on taming. My best answer to you is to do it yourself. Take your bird into the bathroom, take him out and hold him close to you chest. He will fight you but their bite is not so bad. Its better if you do it so he will not be scared of you. Don't hold him so tight that you choke him, just enough to know that you mean business and as he starts to calm down try holding him on your finger. By no means are you to be brutal to your bird; this is a very delicate little animal and it takes tender loving care to do this. Just be patient and kind and loving. After all this is the pet you brought into your life. Good luck. You'll have him tame in no time flat.
Do NOT clip your birds wings!!! It could have a plethora of different, negative, physical and psychological effects! See BirdTricks, Marlene Mc’cohen or Elle and the Birds for good parrot advice.
They do sell Love Birds. Don't know about species. I bought my bird because of love at first sight---for both him and myself.
BirdSmart is a pet store. If your bird is hurt you need to take him or her to a vet that specializes in medicine for bird
