Campgrounds were nice and quiet on a Monday night. No lake just a river running through the lake bed. You are able to drive into the lake bed and saw quite a few people fishing. Some moved moved in at about 8pm but was gone in the morning.

Very nice campground. 1 star removed since the reservoir was empty (9% full). I heard it only reached 54% full this year and the priority for water is agriculture not recreation, so it may not fill for quite some time. Campsites were spacious and shady.

Tried making reservations to this Campground for approximately two weeks online and calling their toll free number. Never could get through to either one of them. On the website it said first come first serve for water sites. We pulled up on a Sunday afternoon after driving 5 hours. I spoke to the camp host. She told me that they were full and told me go to the Sheep Bridge Campground. My husband went around the campground with our boat and trailer and saw lots of empty sites. She begrudgingly gave us site number one for one night and had to check with them again at noon. That evening we went driving around and found out there is shore line camping across from Twin Lakes which was free of charge and had water sites Galore. It was perfect. Back at gull point camground at noon when we were packing up on Mobday the camp host came by and said you can have two more nights and handed us an envelope. I handed them back to her and said no thanks. The campground was more than half empty on Sunday night and on Monday...so if she says they are full....i doubt it. Go camp along the shoreline anyway...free and way better sites. Camp host lady rude. Husband probably nicer but didn't say much.

I made the nearly 4 hour drive from Vancouver to come here. Okay so some things to keep in mind about Gull Point. The campground is well maintained and operated by Hoodoo. The staff was super friendly. There's running water, some flush toilets and also pit toilets, which weren't too bad/dirty. There are NO RV hookups for water or power, but there is a dump station nearby. The sites are spacious, clean and you aren't super close to your neighbors, but you can see them. This place is amazing. It is on Wickiup Reservoir if you like to fish, hike, boat, kayak, camp, or sight see. From the water you can see South Sister, Middle Sister, Diamond Peak, Mt. Bachelor and some other mountains/volcanoes. It's so pretty. Yes, it's pretty busy in the summer. If you are a geology or volcano nerd like me, you will love this place. Tons to do and see as the Newberry Volcanic Monument is a 25 minute drive, Bend is 35 minutes, and Sisters is about 50 minutes, so you get Mt. Bachelor, Sun River, Smith Rock and all manner of reservoirs, hiking, or biking to your hearts galore. Check out Lava Butte as you get to hike up a lava flow and for $4 ride the shuttle to the top and hike around the crater rim. I recommend this place if you want somewhere that's sort of rugged but don't want to give up some niceties. The only strikes I give it is your neighbors across the reservoir are dispersion campers and bring their dirt bikes and quads (OHV parks are close by) and party at night at times so it's noisy in the day, and it's popular with young people who get rowdy and loud at night.

Most spaces would accommodate at least a small tent. Plus, the spaces are fairly level. I put up a 14x16 tent in #22 (I believe). I got lucky renting it sight unseen because it wouldn't have fit in every space. So, the answer is yes and no, but mostly yes!
Water is very low. It is basically the Deschutes river running through, no lake left. In addition, there isn't any drinking water available even though it says "temporary" on reservation.gov. The dump station water fill is closed as well. No water at South Twin or West South Twin either..
Should be. We camped there just a couple weeks ago.
Yes, all sites except group sites are currently open for camping, including tent camping.
Each campsite has picnic tables.

Yes, you can bring up to a 30' RV or camper. There are no hook ups though.
There are showers (a little rustic) at South Twin Lake less than a mile away. There are also showers at Crane Prairie a few miles away and of course pretty nice showers at the truck stop in La Pine.
From what I saw, it appears to be a combination. It looked like the best spots had to be reserved, and the earlier in the year the better. In the area where I stayed, there were spaces available but for only two nights. I reserved a space and stayed five nights. As I was leaving, there were spaces available that hadn't been used that still had a sign stating for two nights only. Kind of confusing!
6 months in advance for standard campsites. 12 months for group sites.
