This place is absolutely amazing the best. I go for a drive here everyday and so blessed. I see bald eagles and hawks and deer and cranes and otters and owls and pheasants and snakes you name it. Defiantly recommend this place

The modoc refuge is a sanctuary for the birds and animals. Foot and wheeled movement is allowed. The place is closed and locked up at night. Therw are several campgrounds in the Warner mts. But it is winter and they may be still closed due to the snow. You do drive right by an rv park going to the refuge, right by alturas park.

Go online to fws.gov and find the refuge tab. Modoc will be one of the refuges and on its page is a downloadable pdf with hunting regs. Also Cal fish and game has regs in their book as well for that refuge
