The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, both on the floor (shopping for shorts and sweatshirts) and at the register checking out. The team in the bike shop is great. I am an avid biker and prefer the shop Sports Basement for all my biking needs. They have everything I need and at a great price. Why shop anywhere else for your outdoor needs. Thanks for being there Tom

Is there a better sporting goods store in the area? I truly believe active people want great products at a good price without being flashy. And we certainly don’t want some marketing exec pushing brands at us that we don’t want (ie: Under Armour). Sports Basement has several locations and although they are clean and filled with products, the locations are not shiny and have old furniture inside for resting. The employees look like they belong outside on the trails or on a court or pool, which gives me a sense they know the products well. You get the same thing at REI, but I still like Sports Basement better especially since they have the Basement program that gives back to the community. Be sure to join. It really helps local people. As a side note, someone crashed into my truck the last time I was there and a witness came running into the store so they could announce to everyone what happened. Thankfully, I heard the announcement and ran out to assess. The person was leaving me a note with her contact info so it all worked out. We are one community and Sports Basement is part of that hub.

This review is in regards to the bike shop. These guys just do a great job. I blew my bike up about 100 yards from the junction on Mt Diablo. The free hub failed, a couple of spokes came off, got caught in the chain, tore off the derailleur and my world came to a screeching halt. Brian tried everything to get that bike put back together for me. Nothing was working. He tried four different wheels, nothing was working. He asked me to go to a Specialized dealer and see if I could get the proprietary wheel they needed. His suppliers were dry. (if you're reading this after 2022, we had a supply chain problem after the pandemic) I called every Specialized dealer in the bay area. No one had anything. Then one guy called Specialized. Well, that wheel was well known for failing. I'm the dope that got 7 years out of it. Now I'm closer to a solution, but they don't have the wheel. Specialized can supply the free hub if I can find someone to build it. Blink. Blink. Then I hit another guy who let us know that the inset derailleur hanger on my bike needed to be replaced with a straight hanger. Yes, he had a straight one to sell me. I took it to Brian, he installed it the next day and I am back on the road. Brian went way above and beyond getting my bike back together. They were really busy when I came it. I am grateful and appreciative that the kind of old school customer service that we never see any more, lives at the bike shop at Sports Basement Walnut Creek.

This is my go to bike shop and general outdoor sports shop. They have a good selection of products. You can demo bikes. They have even sponsored Demo Days. The prices are fair. I've purchased both a Road bike and a Full Suspension Mt Bike. Fitting on the roadie, by Gino, was spot on. The Full Suspension bike requires annual service. Brian is amazing. Great work done right on time. And great maintenance tips.
