Such a fun time on the railroad! We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating, the train very clean and everything in good repair. This is a place to take kids, or the whole family. You can stop and have a picnic halfway through in a beautiful grove.

What a great experience. We splurged and rented out a caboose. Well worth it! Our family could spread out and move around for different views. The kids loved it. Tip: there are no gift shops in Hockessin. Or maybe we couldn't find one?! Research the town before going, so you have an idea what you want to do for that 30 minutes you are there.

Near experience for sure. Very cool train and the quality is cool to see. The tickets said you would get off at a picnic area but you get the option to stay on the train. We prepared a snack so got off but would have stayed on otherwise.

Wow! What a nice experience. We took the diesel train in the morning in the summer. It was raining at first but quit shortly before the trip. Everyone was so accommodating with our wheelchair access. Yes, you can take a wheelchair. They move a platform to the doorway and raise you up. The windows are half open and the breeze was welcoming. You take a nice paced trip down the tracks while getting a historical experience of the area and times. The trip was an hour and a half in all. You have the choice of getting off and having a 30 minute picnic at picnic tables by the water or you can stay on and ride a bit further. We chose to stay on. Once the trip has gone the distance they stop and go in reverse back to Greenback Station. The seatbacks also change so you don't have to face the wrong direction. There are other train experiences just check out the website for details. It is so relaxing and peaceful, at least that was our experience. My 3 year old grandson fell asleep towards the end. They have a gift shop that doesn't disappoint if you want a souvenir. Don't forget to pickup the train schedule because on the other side is the history. We were stopped and not moving when I took the photo out the window, never put anything out the window while in motion. Enjoy your trip!

The price for adults vary between 18-20 dollars depending on the event. The times also vary normal excursions to the mt Cuba picnic Grove leave the station at 12:30pm and once there they give you a 30 minute layover. That is usually an hour and 45 min round trip. The days are usually Saturday and Sunday but for holiday light trains it's 7 days a week in December starting at 5pm till 9pm. They also run santa trains to ashland delaware during the day. Check out the website for more detail info. www.wwrr.com
Yes, on certain type excursion train's
I did read on the website that they do have birthday parties aboard the train.
The longest trip is their july 4th and Autumn leaf special trains which run the entire line to hockessin Delaware where the track ends. Greenbank station to hockessin and return is 2 and a half hour round trip.
So some people in the Warmer weather bring there own picnic lunch and do just that.
I would suggest calling them directly as they're the ones who run the show and call the shots.
I would call the railroad and ask to speak with Steve jensen he is the father of the one that owns the steam whistles. 998-1930
That sounds like the Strasburg Railroad (in Lancaster County PA)... there are handcars and crank-operated cars that kids can operate.
You should call for that type of information. This question section isn't regularly checked.
People bring picnic food with them to eat at the picnic grounds. I assume you could, however, I don't suggest it. Keep it family friendly.
On special trips, special events see or call in advance. If service dog bring certification.
As Chris said. You won't be sorry, it's a beautiful ride.
Yes, handicapped parking, ramp to station and handicapped lift into the train cars.
Definitely less that 2 hours because they send it out again. I'd agree with everyone else and say it lasted around 90 minutes. Nice picnic area and the turning around point.
