I hiked the orange and yellow trails here. It’s a good mix of prairie and woods. Definitely not a place to go for solitude. While I didn’t pass anyone on the trails there were many campers and fishers. There is also communication towers nearby, a constant reminder of man’s presence and an eyesore sculpture in one of the prairie areas. I even heard a marching band practicing for a while. I did find a lot of wildlife in the area which was nice though the mud in spring was pretty deep in places and I wished I had worn boots.

Kind of a hidden gem. Trail around the pond was pretty easy and in general in good shape. Some wet spots but it is middle of March. Would hope that some of the areas will have more real life exhibits to showcase this time in our history.

Amazing park with great trails and cool history stops for some education!

What a peaceful experience. We love the mindfulness trail signs. Bathrooms were still open and clean. There was even hand-sanitizer in the stalls! We are looking forward to applying for a permit to camp in the springtime. 💕
