If you are around here, make a point to stop by and enjoy. The paths and structures are taken care of and you could easily spend a few days enjoying it.

New beginner trail eschews trail building rules in favor of erosion. Also forces advanced riders onto the portion of the trail with the most foot traffic. Destroyed a one of the best climbs/descents in the whole park. The trail system itself was already a beginner trail, the new trail is more like a baby trail. There are plenty of places that could use serious maintenance and they burn the money on that.

Nice 7.5 mile trail, very well marked, mostly single track with a short stretch of gravel road over the damn. Shoes/boots probably not needed if your horse is normally good barefoot. There are a few drop in, step out water crossings but nothing too difficult. Lots of horse safe bridges and not too much other traffic, even on a nice day. Parking lot has trailer sized spaces, had no problem with my 6 horse rig. Easy to find and drive in/out.

Beautiful place, fish here often. If you don’t have a way to get out on the water like a kayak or boat, fishing will be tough. Accessible areas to the water are always crowded and the fish know to avoid those areas. You could still catch fish there, but I recommend getting out on the water to spots where there aren’t many people. High traffic areas are where you can find some of this lakes only trash, but everywhere else is kept tidy. Bathrooms and picnic tables are also very clean and accessible
