Editing to add this shelter is currently experiencing a parvovirus outbreak, and they refuse to disclose how many animals in their care have been infected. This is not the first time they have had to close their doors due to sick animals in their care. When explaining the details of how my support dog was violently beaten, officer Jackson told me "I would beat your dog too". I tried to speak with a manager or different officer about this matter but was told "no one is around to talk to about that". Someone who willingly admits they would hurt an animal should NOT be allowed to work anywhere near them. Tri cities animal shelter and control services are a complete joke and do nothing but harm animals and their families.

I made my report for my lost dog girl, but until now they didn't find it I think someone has it, thanks for you attention I hope to find it soon.

This is a tricky review as there have been some major changes to the operation of this facility...thank goodness. The staff and volunteers were kind and helped me in a timley manner. It was extremely busy the day I was here. The line was long and rhe people kept coming. They all knew their jobs well. My low rating comes from the horrible stench of animal urine. It was horrid. It took every bit of tolerance I could muster to complete the few minutes I had to stand at the front desk to complete the paperwork to surrender a sweet beautiful dog I had found at Columbia Park. My clothes reeked when I left. There is a pen just outside the doors that desperately needs to somehow be cleaned of the smell coming from it also. I would have no clue how that could be done...but there had to be away. I feel bad for the volunteers and employees that sit in this for hours and hours....and definitely feel for the animals who are there 24/7 with exception of walks. I hope that there is some progress towards resolving this. I've been to this shelter and several others never smelled anything like what I did here. I hope the big guy I brought finds s fantastic home. I miss him very much and wish I could have kept him. 😪

This was perhaps the saddest shelter I've ever been to. When you walk in, your nose is assaulted by the most acrid pungent smell of aged cat urine. It was appalling. This is unacceptable. I don't care the reason. We left immediately.

I'm glade you like it!
I think it depends on if you call it a pitbull or a terrier. There is lots of dogs that have pitbull in them that dont have to be registered.
Yes! It is super easy. You give the desk person your ID and they give you a collar and leash so you can take the dogs out and walk them or play in the yard and interact with them. You choose which dogs you want to take out.
Actually, I don't work there. It would be best if you call them.
If you go on their website you can see the dogs that are ready for adoption. Here: http://www.tri-citiesanimalshelter.com/
I called the Pasco animal shelter. They were closed, but I did talk to someone. I was told that they do pick up. They're supposed to call me back tomorrow when they open.
If you own your home yes you can. If you rent you will need to have a rental agreement signed by the property owner saying you can have a pet there. I believe you can find the agreement on their website. If not, you can get one at the shelter.
Typically they have you do a trial adoption so you can see how they interact with your home and other pets/kids etc. Yes, they do let you see animals, pet them, bring treats, and walk them. I would also check other local shelters and rescues there really are so many adoptable pets out there. I just adopted from Benton COUNTY animal control and they are the most amazing, honest and compassionate people. :) good luck.
No
No. The shelter has dogs and cats.
Thats really odd. Can you call us back at your earliest convenience and ask to speak to our Director? Her name is Rebecca and she can clear things up for you.
Cats are $100 and Kittens are $125. This includes spay/neuter and vaccinations except rabies as well as flea and tick treatment and dewormed.
We do! Go to our website and submit a volunteer form. We will be in contact was we go through our New Volunteer Orientations!
I would suggest calling the humane society to get there legal opinion, or a richland police officer
I'm not sure but I would call them and see
I'm not sure about that.
I believe it is after the surrendered animal has been there for so long.
I believe it is just "7 days" but I'm not 100% sure. They are very nice and will answer your questions if you give them a call.
They cant. They have to be 16 or 18. I cant remember. But you have to be least 16.
There is cats that need cuddles. Any extra attention is always a bonus
It would be best to call the shelter and ask.
Call 509-575-2740 for Washington fish and wildlife
Try "Sit Means Sit or PetSmart
Depending on the jurisdiction, will depend on which animal control can take them! They are not open today but feel free to give them a call tommorow at 545 3740! Thank you for keeping them in good care in the meantime.
No you can't, you have to be at least 18, with your ID
They told me they do not keep animals that are not HOMELESS. Since your the owner they would not keep them for you even if you paid them. Maybe they could tell you who can
This is just a community forum for the public, it's not run by the shelter. You'll need to contact the shelter directly.
Could be you could always call and ask.
I don't thanks so I think that all you have to do is have them spayed or neutered if you get them from that place but if you leave the state or wherever you move to I don't think it's a big deal.
They will if it's reported to them. Did you call them? I know if it's after business hours, they have an answering service that takes messages and will page someone out for emergencies.
No dont worry it's not closing.😁
No only dogs and cats
Yes! The shelter loves dog walkers! You need to have closed toe shoes and bring your ID.
I am sorry for your loss. Yes, this is a wonderful place to adopt. You can visit with the animals, take them for a walk and see which one will be your forever friend!
There is a staff there. If interested in working there bring in a resume. Otherwise volunteers are always welcome to come in to walk dogs or pet cats.
You can look on the website :)

I received my lovely Scooby AKA Jarhead from this shelter. He was on different food while in their care. However; he's on Science Diet and has been for years and never have I had a problem with him throwing up or having runny poop. Let's keep in mind the shelter is running on bare minimum and thank goodness that these animals have somewhere to stay and food and watered. Then a little time later we got our Baby Girl AKA I can't remember lol what they named her at that time. She as well as Scooby eats Science Diet. She's a Chihuahua long hair and Scooby is a big mixture of??? So they're on two different foods however the same with her she doesn't throw up and she doesn't leave runny poo everywhere. I know these are dogs however maybe give your pet kitten / cat a little longer to adjust because both of the animals that I got from the shelter did have the runs at first. That's not to say that the shelter was doing anything wrong. It's a big adjustment for these animals.
Yes you can, you'll just need to fill out paper work of where you found it and so. Vist them when they open.
Like??? Blankets, q-tips, cotton balls, gloves, dog toys, dog food....
Always approach them slowly. They are scared. They can run in the front fenced in area with toys. Also 2 dogs are not usually allowed to walk with one person.
You can walk dogs between 9am and 4:30 Tuesday thru Saturday. Bring your own leash and collar and wear closed toe shoes. Check in at front desk and give driver license while you walk the dogs.
Animal shelters take in stray, unwanted, and abandoned dogs of all breeds. Check each shelters website for current dogs available for adoption. Also check AKC Rescue network, or SPDR (Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue) for purebred dogs in need of homes.
There is a fine to surrender. Not sure how much.
You are so right you do not want to handle a rabbit if you dont have too. Call the animal shelter for problem solving or maybe call 4h
Unfortunately, i do not know. I would call the tri city animal shelter directly
Yes
