The trail overall is pretty easy the incline and decline isnt that bad. But keep in mind you WILL be in exposed sunlight most of the way. Also when your walking on it you'll have no way of knowing when your near the end of the path. It'll feel like your walking forever with no end in sight (it takes about 40 min). I don't know if there was a path to see the waterfall from the bottom but being able to see the waterfall from up top was still an amazing view. And being able to stand in the water before the water went over the edge was pretty amazing too. I also highly recommend checking out Sam's point on the way back. It truly gives you a breathtaking view of the area

Great view. It's ok for inexperienced hikers, and even children. For experience hikers they can go little further into the trail. You will find some inclination, hills,, irregular fooding uneven, sometimes inpredictable. I enjoyed.

The views are just amazing. Great spot to go check out the fall colors. I like that you can make the hike as long or short as you like. Been there twice and still so much I have not seen yet.

Beautiful falls. The walk to it does not have much coverage from the sun, which made us thankful it was overcast. The falls was packed because it was the weekend, in the fall.

No tours. A great hike and exploration.
400 Sam's Point Road, Cragsmoor NY We have a parking lot, on the weekends it fills up quickly. It is recommended you arrive at 9 am. You can always give the Sam's Point Visitor Center a call at 845-647-7989
The trail to Verkeederkill Falls is closed. So are the ice caves, high point, indian rock and berry picker paths
Yes
yes, but not all routes are open
No official trail to bottom of verdeerkill but there are better falls in the preserve that are accessible top and bottom like in Mohonk mountain
If your child is experienced, then it should be fine. It might be a little long though.
