A truly hidden gem in Newton, you'll be glad to find it when you get there. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. You can point out what fish you would like and they will slice it up for you and package it with or without rice nicely. So creamy, fresh and satisfying!! I will definitely come back when I have plenty of time on my hands.

One of the best and authentic Japanese sushi places in Greater Boston area. The sashimi are fresh and tasty with affordable price. The place is clean and well-organised. Highly recommended!

We go to Sakanaya almost every week for lunch. They have great bowls that are super affordable. The sushi rice flavor is extremely tasty and well balanced. It is also great to pick up grocery items (ramen, seaweed salad, etc) while picking up food. My only suggestion for them would be that their phones are often busy, it would be great to be able to order ahead online and then do a pick up vs having to call. I go so often that at times I can tell small variances in consistency in the sashimi. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

Very friendly and a surprisingly good selection of fish. The grocery is small but well-stocked, and watching the breaking down of the fish was fun. I look forward to trying the sushi. Good luck!

Yes, that's largely what they sell

They don't sell fresh swordfish to my knowledge. They sell fresh fish for sushi and sashimi. Swordfish is not commonly prepared as sushi or sashimi.
