A gem of a place to spend a summer day. Much less crowded than nearby public beaches, you can relax in a chair, go swimming, and observe nature near the lake. When you want to avoid loud, crowded place but still enjoy Lake Ontario, this is the place you need to go!

Heron rookery was amazing. We saw lots of turtles and heard lots of bullfrogs. But a warning about the shoreline trail ... it's almost impassable due to fallen trees and rock slides. The connection to the trail back to the nature center is gone. We had to scramble up a cliff. A new nature center is being built, the old one was closed on our visit. Still some neat views over the lake, especially at sunset. We'd like to return once the new building is complete.

This place could be a wonderful spot to go if it was better maintained. The trails are poorly taken care of right now, and difficult to navigate and follow. The map was not very helpful and didn't seem to represent distances or trail junctures accurately. Staff were nowhere to be found. The heron rookery was incredible, and to be honest the three stars are literally just for that part of the park. The rest of it made for a frustrating day.

No. The park is free to the public but I know they wouldn't turn down donations! 😊

Can you bring a wagon or stroller down the trail to the lake?

Yes. The pathway is wide enough. There are wide steps at the bottom when u reach the lake but you shouldn't have a problem. The pathway down does have a bit of an incline but it's not steep.
