Thanks Beverly Hills Rolex Service Center for such a quick turnaround! 3 business days instead of a potential 3 months to correct a simple issue, so I can get back to enjoying my timepiece. I might add, Maxine was very helpful and courteous, she told me exactly when to expect the service to be done and she called first thing the day of right when they opened. My gmt cost me $700 to get serviced so a date complication should be a bit cheaper or same price. Also depends if the watch needs more polishing or over hauling which will surpass the $1,000 mark. I hope it helps

If you were meaning a Rolex, probably between $10- $90 depending where you go. Might be afraid of a mall shop charging $10, might not get the seal correct? The Rolex Oyster Perpetual produced from 1970–2001, had a battery, if you have a different model, might not want to go to a authorized retailer, might be bad news ;)
