I can not recommend this rescue/Betty herself enough! My father and I drove to the rescue from a town about one-hour North of Chicago to collect two puppies in the dead of an extreme summer heatwave. All the pups which I saw online were in the SAME condition irl- each older pup had an individual space with their own dog run/enclosed dog house. The smaller pups were kept separately and had separate enclosures- all well kept. Betty is direct, honest and overall, compassionate; after visiting the Rescue to collect my pups, I cannot say enough about the transparency and authenticity of this Rescue/woman running it. For the reviews commenting on their pups requiring a ‘bath’- I drove 12+ hours with the pups in my Range Rover [no latent smell after our journey], with an additional 1 week ‘in-home’ without being able to bathe them due to their SURGERIES- FWIW, all pups whom have been ‘fixed’ are not able to be bathed until 10 to 14+ days post surgery, per the requirements of their aftercare/sutures. Thistle Hill provides detailed documentation of the pup’s vaccination(s), their surgeon for fixing [if applicable] and, MicroChips. The topography of the drive to her Rescue [from Lake Forest, IL] was beyond beautiful- if on the fence, I highly recommend this rescue!

My husband and I adopted our first dog together we love him tremendously, we have had him for 2 years now.. when we adopted him we were told he was healthy and had no issues, unfortunately that was not the case he had a very bad case of hip dysplasia and we weren't told he needed medication so it got worse until we noticed he was developing a horrible limp, our poor boy has to take medicine twice a day at only 3 years old! My only problem is she should have told us, we love our boy and hate to see him in pain! 😫

4 months ago we adopted our precious Coton de Tuleare puppy at Thistle Hill. I had never heard of this breed before, but when I saw her I was smitten. When Betty texted us to inform us we had been approved for the adoption, I was over the moon. Betty is incredibly dedicated to finding these animals homes. I highly recommend this facility when you are looking for your forever friend.
