Many well-cared-for reptiles(mostly snakes). The employees are so educated about their field and passionate. They will answer any questions! 12.50 per adult and 8 per child - the place is non profit and the entrance fee counts for animal care! We watched a venom extraction and were in awe. The man who extracts the venom has such a healthy respect for the animals and is a pioneer on the community. His work saves lives literally since the venom is used for anti venom. We are regular folks from south Carolina but we really loved this little gem in Kentucky !

If you love snakes, you'll enjoy this hidden gem of Kentucky. Tours are self-guided, so you can take as long as you like. The exhibits are spread between multiple buildings, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Also, there is no bathroom on site so take advantage of the nearby rest stop before you arrive.

Awesome place the visit, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Would be easy to spend all day there looking and reading about the variety of snakes and reptiles they have. Will for sure be visiting the Kentucky Reptile Zoo again!

The majority of the reptiles in display are snakes, but there are a few others as well. Touring the different buildings doesn't take very long, maybe 30-45 minutes. It was a nice side trip during a rainy day. The staff were all very friendly and nice to talk with.

When we went it was over in like 30 minutes. We didn't get to see any venom extractions like the website said. It was rather boring and a waste of gas driving 2 hours.
Jim the main difference is that we have to wear a facemask to protect us from the venom should the snakes choose to spray. However, the venom can still be injected (that's how they kill their food, just like other venomous snakes) so we just allow them to bite onto the funnel and they will inject the venom. Sometimes they do spray it and waste some, but we can't stop them from doing that.
They have more than just snakes.. I can imagine they would do a show where you pet the turtles or something but almost everything there is venomous.. I've been there twice and never pet anything.. some of their shows are pretty neat to watch if you're interested! 🐢
Hi Brenda, We do not allow anyone to touch the reptiles, but we do have talks with an animal at 1, 3, and 5 pm each day. Sometimes the 1pm show is a venom extraction, but right now they are limited due to the director having some knee problems.
No they dont sell there reptiles
Yes we do!
We do not have a lot of turtles. Our focus is primarily venomous snakes, because we provide venom for medical research. We only have two tortoises, a pair of Paupa New Guinea sidenecks, a small gator snapper, and various sliders. We have 80-90 species on exhibit overall, so turtles are a small part of it.
Yes, jim and Kristen own and run KRZ
