Great stop if you're passing by. It's definitely more impressive in person then in the photos. Getting to the cave opening is quick and easy but does require going up and down a few stairs. Take the free ferry over the river for a unique experience while you're there too.

Went for a quick little trip to see my family, long time coming! My arrival was late at night so didn't get to see very much scenery. The state park is about a block from my sisters home. We went through the woods and the winding roads and beautiful scenery, it was around 3:00 in the afternoon and looked at the tip of this hill and saw a deer just standing there watching us. There are many paths you use to go into these caves. They were amazing! The park is also huge and everything is spread out so people can have plenty of privacy. There is the tent area and camper area, I also saw the biggest fire pit I have ever seen, unfortunately I didn't snap a pic. The drive from Kokomo was a easy 4 and a half hour drive. Go check it out. I also added a few pics of the ferry ride. Outside of the State park was a Jail house that had two holding cells. The jail itself was tiny, I didn't see any info on the history, but we sure had fun taking some pics.

Very Unassuming Location In A Very Unexpected Way! Was Highly Impressed With This State Park! Situated On The Ohio River, Cave-In-Rock Features A Host Of Charm! The 'Cave' Has An Interesting History, As Having Had A Nefarious/Notorious Past. This State Park Is Clean, Well Maintained And Is Situated Close To Kentucky (There Is A Free Car Ferry Service Just A Hop And Skip Away) As Well As To The Garden Of The Gods. Chose To Stay At The Duplex Cabin (Glad We Did) As This Allowed Up To Relax Comfortably (And For Less Than $100) In A Large Space With A Kitchenette, Dining Table And A Balcony Overlooking The Ohio River. Albeit, The Walls Of The Cabin Are More Than Paper Thin. Was Able to Hear Normal Conversations Next Door When The Family Was Talking. So For Families With Children Or Larger Groups Perhaps One Would Desire To Book Both Adjoining Rooms Just For Privacy Purposes. Other Than That, The Hot Water In The Facilities Does Run Out Fast! One Cool Aspect Are The Journals To 'Share Your Thoughts'. Our Room Had No More Spare Pages Otherwise This Review Would Probably Be Posted There ;)

This place is fantastic! On my way to the Garden of the Gods I always stop here first because it’s such an interesting sight. Looking out from the inside of the cave of the cave presents a awe inspiring view(I even made it my profile picture haha). There are also carvings all over the walls that are interesting to look at, the oldest I found was from 1835. There is also a great deal of history behind the cave, such as it’s use by pirates on the Ohio River. This spot is sure to be a hit for anyone who checks it out and is great nearly year round.
