Only sharing because my husband and I spent our last day here for our honeymoon & really just wanted to camp in the forest and be secluded, which is our favorite thing in the world. The website is misleading and doesn’t tell you that the entire campsite and hiking trails are designated towards dirt bikes and ATVs. The trails are entirely gravel because they are meant for motor vehicles and we didn’t find one good hike that wasn’t over taken by dirt bikes spraying us with gravel. Don’t recommend unless you have a dirt bike or ATV and come here to ride. Definitely not for hiking. Find somewhere else & even if you find a nice campsite which we did we had people riding their dirt bikes through it all day until they couldn’t anymore. Not my idea of forest bathing. We are from Oklahoma and we had a hard time navigating the recreation.gov website so I’m only sharing so others know beforehand, we obviously didn’t

Awesome place. Showed up praying for a spot (after passing three other full campsites) randomly one weekend and finally found a (sloped) site. The host is great and the nearby hike to the lookout is unforgettable.

This place is awesome. The drive up can be pretty rough and dusty, especially with people racing up and down the mountain. Once there the campgrounds are pretty nice and the climb up to Devil's Head Lookout is just gorgeous. It took us over an hour to get up and maybe 45 minutes to come down. Bring your lunch and eat it up top. Also be sure to bring bug spray in the summer.
