My second time ever at the pier since I was 16 years old in 1996. Be careful as there are missing parts of railing.

Awesome place for taking beautiful pictures of the Golden Gate, the SFCO-Oakland bridge and San Francisco, while seeing some birds and sea lions. Specially good for Sunrise and Sunset. There are plenty of parking spots and it is easy to get from 101

We had a fare view of the Golden Gate from this point since all the others were closed or the parking was full. Anyway the bridge was cover with fog (I guess because we went there in the afternoon), but the view was still beautifull, since the bridge wasn't completely hided by it.

A MUST DO. PERIOD. Stunning views of the bridge and bay as well as plenty of fishermen to watch. Not super busy, plenty of parking, and fun sights around. Really enjoyed this spot

Yes.
in California, no fishing license needed for any PUBLIC fishing pier but all other restrictions/regulations are in place.. for example can't keep Dungeness crab (illegal to keep Dungeness crab caught in SF Bay) & you have to be aware that certain fish have size, season, quantity &/or gear restrictions
There's no lighting you'll need to bring your own
Depends on the season and time of the year you can catch from jacksmelt to bat rays and red rock crab and sometimes if you're lucky enough a rock fish
I don't think so because it is made of wood
Yes, there are portapotties for pier visitors' use
Good question
Dungeness crabs CANNOT be taken in SF Bay EVER. For rock crabs (red & brown), the season is open year round but have a limit of 30crab/person & 4" min size limit as measured using a *crab gauge*. Note: any crabbing statewide require that you possess a crab gauge (rulers, seamstress tape, etc. ARE NOT valid substitutes). it's all on the CA fish & game handbook & on the website... some of the rules seem weird & not make sense but too many incorrectly measured crabs resulted in the regs that crabbing w/o a gauge can earn you a ticket even if the crabs are legal sized
You can fish anytime day or night. It doesn't close like some piers.
Not the pier itself, but there is grassy areas around.
