Great spot for a nice hike. When we went many flowers were in bloom and it was really beautiful and peaceful. Parking is limited off Wilmot Road.

Great place to explore and disconnect

Gander mountain. Negative: No parking. No trail markings. Barely 1 person wide. Poor condition. Ticks. Positive: The best cardio I've had in a long time. Cool geological marker for being the highest place in Lake County. Seems to be a forgotten, unpolished gem in the Lake County Forest Preserve District. Sad.

I used to love this place. But this year they have not maintained the trails at all. Therefore, they are so overgrown it's not even enjoyable to hike here. The burrs are terrible, I wouldn't bring a dog with long hair here as my short hair was covered and so was I. It's really unfortunate, it used to be a great place to hike. Now there are places that the brush is 7 to 8 feet tall.

I'm not sure of the legality part. Its not federal property so I don't think so. Also, right now it's very tall growth. Paths are a foot wide at best through most spots. Ok for hiking, but i can't see where you could drop a tent. There are several very close camp spots though you could take advantage and come out to the trails.
Parts of the full trail you would have trouble getting through, rain or shine. The lower part is wide open
