Loved the caves! So cute you can drive through a creek. Great family spot

Campground, trails, caves, picnic areas, bridges, flowers and a golf course! Always enjoy the trails along the creek, as well as enjoying the caves. Horse thief cave is the larger of the two, with ice cave being the "see from the road". Enjoy the decent into the riverbed area. Enjoy a picnic. As you drive towards the back part of the park Enjoy the view from the hilltop. Good place to fish along the river. With a boat ramp both before and after the roller dam. As all my reviews pets are welcome with a responsible owner.

It’s an okay park, we had a good time however do not book site 13, campground was 16$ per night and 4$ extra to book online, when we got there, the campsites were very close to eachother, a lot of junky campers that seem to be parked there forever. Also restroom facilities had no soap and 1 roll of paper for 2 stalls. Small area, and we had a light pole on our lot that comes on right at sunset and is on all night!!, literally the center of attention with a spot light above our bonfire pit, these pictures we’re at 10pm, couldn’t enjoy a fire, couldn’t leave stuff out with fear of getting stolen in plain sight, 2 restless nights of sleep because your camper glows. Very disappointed with the campground and the way it was handled, they told us there was nothing they could do, the light stays on and has to be on per regulations, I’m sorry a spot light should have never been placed over anyones fire pit, definitely should be disclosed on the site about lack of privacy for site 13. And surrounding sites that it glows on, No refund was given and was told on Friday night that his boss will be out to talk to us about situation, never even seen the boss. I told DNR if I would have known this was the site I would have never reserved online, this was our first time out to camp and probably last. The rest of the park was beautiful just not the campground.

Beautiful, well maintained state park! Hiking, fishing, spelunking, canoeing, golfing, camping or picnicing - whatever you like to do they have it! There are modern restrooms and a playground for the kiddos as well. We always finish the day with a drive across the creek! A must visit!

There is also the upside diwn bridge for children to swim at
I believe there is a self service kiosk at the park for walk in sites.
You can reserve campsites at iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com. Thanks!
If your taking a camper know wht your doing sites are small and very unlevel
There's an equestrian area and camping at Mattsel Bridge not far from there
The 2 caves are nice but I did not go very deep. Ice cave is smaller and has an interesting look. The horse thief cave is larger but not deep enough to hide the stolen horses...
Also, you can find our rates here: https://www.iowadnr.gov/Places-to-Go/State-Parks/Make-a-Reservation/Overnight-Camping Thanks!
Fishing is allowed with state license from all banks bordering the park. Most like fishing just below the dam.
