Very pretty area. Was an unexpected short respite on a long drive, so was nice to find such as peaceful area right off the highway. Nice picnic facilities. Outhouse was reasonably clean. Weird to have 2 toilets side by side in the outhouse, as the space would make double occupancy awkward to say the least, but otherwise no complaints.

Grew up fishing and camping with my neighborhood buddies in the 60's before the canal had a name. Just South of the Whiteside Co. airport. Great memories. Was the place to drink beer and make out with our girls at night. Looks like a first class park now, great job. Moved away in 1968, visited the canal again in 1995 and it was exactly as it was, I guess the improvements came after 1995. D. Williams (the paper boy)

I love the beauty of the Hennepin canal and love riding my bike on the towpath. The towpath can be a combination of grass, dirt, gravel and sometimes paved. Maintenance on the trail is the bare minimum and some people may consider it too rough and overgrown. You will see lots of wildlife while riding on the towpath from birds and turkeys, to squirrels and rabbits, raccoons & deer just to name a few of the animals I have seen while on the trail. It's very peaceful & a good place to fish, and is dog friendly. Fresh drinking water is hard to find along the trail so make sure to have plenty of drinking water on hand and don't forget your bug repellent sometimes those mosquitoes and biting flies can be pretty bad.

Not my expertise. Water does have a lot of moss, etc in it.
Parking lot is motorcycle and rv friendly. No trails for motorized vehicles
There is a boat ramp in the back.
Call office I think they rent them for groups.
