I will review Shield Health Care from the other side of the fence, as a former employee. I worked for the company for approximately six years and left on good terms. I might still be there today had it not been for personal health issues. As understand it, many of the clients I served continued ask about me long after I was gone. This is because we take an interest in our clients and their needs. Many if not most employees working directly with clients genuinely care about providing the best possible service. I know that I sure did as did my fellow co-workers in our department. My job was to make the client or caregiver's life a little easier by providing for their product needs. Let me say that the work was not always easy. Shield works within a very restrictive structure of local and federal regulations. Further there are almost countless rules and requirements to meet before a product can be shipped. Many hands are involved in each and every order. Most of the rules are not designed by Shield Health care but by Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance companies. Shield works very hard to get an order out the door. Most of this work is completely invisible to the client. I am retired now but I still recommend Shield Health Care to potential customers and to people looking for a career change. The work is often demanding but the personal rewards are price The company treats its employees well and offers many benefits. Shield Healthcare invests a lot of time and money in each employee beyond the pay check.

I rarely post bad reviews, but I would hate to have another Mother go through what I did with this company. A little background on my situation: I’m a new mom and have a little 8 month old at home who has severe milk protein allergies. My doctors office referred us over to Shield Healthcare who provided us with amino acid base formula for my son. I pay out of pocket until I reach my deductible, which shield should’ve followed up with a prior authorization with proper CPT coding in order to get a portion covered. Basically I’ve been pay over $289 a month for 8 cans out of pocket. Then I get the formula mailed to me from shield healthcare, I get multiple severely dented cans. I request shield to swap out the unopened and unused cans. I get a lot of push back and then 3 days later I get an answer that they will not refund me or swap out these dented cans. And furthermore they refuse to continue to sell me formula and pretty much leave me high and dry for the next shipment. It wasn’t until I called back for a reorder when they tell me they will no longer service me. Now my son has no formula ( you cant buy it over the counter since it has to be ordered). Also I spent over $900 to this company and none of that went towards my deductible because this medical supplier did not follow up on the prior authorization. I am very disappointed in their service. I would like to complain to the governing body that allows companies to sell dented formula cans that I’m suppose to feed to my infant. I’m not too happy about doing business with this company! And their main office in Valencia lacks customer service skills and compassion. Shield Healthcare just doesn’t really care about their customers needs
