Rented a nice double kayak and had a great time paddling around the lake. The guys who helped us out were awesome, too! We’ll be back for sure

One of the best hidden gems of living in Durham. I still remember all the nice weekends in there over a fishing boat and heading home with full bucket of fish. The motor is new and nice, but battery runs out faster than expected. The ranger said that the water level is low recently, so the propeller may stuck into the bottom and drain the battery quickly. After switching to a new battery, I was able to get my boat crossing the bridge and far away to places without anybody else. One catfish bite the bait and was pulled into my bucket. I started to worry about battery life and tried to go directly to the dock. With the dock just around the corner, the propeller hit the bottom and does not run any more. I had to pull the oars and started to learn to use them under the direction of the ranger on the dock. Fortunately these are not hard, just good exercises. One issue of the things here is there is no place to buy minnows any more. I ended up with Night Crawlers. Even that is from a gas station far away. Probably somebody can point me to a closer place with minnows and I can prepare better next time. And it has to be a cooler day with higher water level!

Only open Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday but a nice location with easy access from Durham and all the amenities.

This is what happens to a prime outdoor resource when it's run by bureaucrats with no clue about what they are managing. The batteries they FORCE you to rent from them are good for less than 30 minutes before they die. They are not 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries. These batteries will leave you stranded and are dangerous if the weather gets bad. There is no logical reason why fishermen can't bring their own batteries and their own electric motors. If they are worried about introducing hydrilla it's too late as its already in the Eno and Little rivers watershed. If they want to save face for this worthless policy just have everyone dunk their motor in a five gallon bucket of bleach/water mix and no issues with seeds or plant fragments. Even OWSA gets this!!!! They also need to stay till dark at least one day a week ( Friday maybe ) in the summer for good fishing when it's hot. How about some night tournaments on the Full moon three times in the summer till midnight like Alamance does. Not expecting much from these clowns.

They use a lottery system. If you are selected you can bring 1 extra person. If your from Durham, it's $3 per person.
Apparently you are not permitted to put your own kayak, canoe or electric powered boat into this lake, comments below notwithstanding.
Little River Fishing Facility cannot take cards. They only take cash or checks and no bills larger than $20.
