My husband and I just left this wonderful buffet. I have to say, the fried chicken, shrimp and catfish were my favorites. My husband tried just about everything and he was very pleased. This was our first time at a Soul Food Restaurant and it was delicious. Everyone there was so so friendly, and I mean friendly. We both ate way to much, but to be honest, I had to keep going back for more. It was that good!

Just left this wonderful place with delicious food. Going inside I saw the sign about feeding the homeless twice a month. That is an amazing blessing for the community. My party and I loved the atmosphere and the staff were awesome. This was my first trip to Wilmington, but I will definitely stop in here my next visit.

I was very disappointed in the food and the service of this restaurant. It was very poor quality food. Also the service was very poor. I grew up in a nearby county, Columbus County, and I am very familiar with Soul Food! My husband read the overall review which was a 4.2 which lead us to this restaurant. I really don't go by reviews much these days because the business owners have family and friends to write reviews. The first turn off about this restaurant is that they had a little girl, look like she was 4 or 5, going back and forth from the kitchen. Children should never be part of a restaurant team. Customers should not see this type of managing your restaurant. Now back to the bad food and service - the food was horrible. I had the Spots, rice and gravy, collard greens, candied yams, and cornbread. Firstly, the fish was overcooked, salty, and seemingly coated with a flour based coating. This type of fish is usually coated with corn meal. The fish didn't even have the nice soft meat and delicate sweet taste of spots. The collard greens were doctored up with sugar. Y'all - Sweet collard greens are not tasty! The yams were doctored up as well. The cornbread had too much butter and and was not cooked long enough. My cornbread slice had a banana flavor on the corner of it. Food was too salty as well. This was my birthday dinner and the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. We usually eat in Calabash and the Spots are done the way they should be done in this region. If I could give this restaurant a 0, I would definitely! I was not impressed by the waitress. She did not seem to be enthused about her job at all. She was very lackluster about providing us service. All in all I wish my husband and I would have cooked our Soul Food dinner at home. I will still be on the quest for a real authentic Soul Food restaurant. I am done with this one. Meanwhile I'm snipping Nippy's from my list.
