A small but good arboretum nestled in the hills just above Lake Arrowhead. Worth a visit to see local species in their natural environment. There’s a grove of giant sequoias that were planted around 1930. The largest specimen is nearly 6 ft in diameter, still puny compared to those at Sequoia National Park but still awesome. Park entrance fee is a reasonable $5 per individual/group. The walk around the park is under 2 miles and easy enough for kids. Dogs on leash welcome (remember to clean up). The tall trees provide good shade so walking mid-day in summer is fine, but do wear sunscreen.

My favorite easy hike in Lake Arrowhead! Love this gentle loop trail with a little bit of everything the area has to offer, including sequoias. Dog friendly path for pups on leash. Great in any season.

It was a gorgeous day for an easy one mile loop trail with 25 interpretive stops. Number 2, a Coulter Pine, has the heaviest pinecones in the world. They're massive! Number 24 is a Knobcone Pine which has some pretty unique cones as well. There are plenty of benches along the route, and several wooden bridges. It would be a good trail for children and older adults, but I saw all ages. You should have an Adventure Pass for parking there.

At 76 years old, I found this a very easy short walk, by starting on the path that leads to the left. Their weren't very many flowers in bloom, but the variety of conifers that were planted by the women after the huge fire in the 30s, was beautiful to see. A lot of good views and places to sit along the way, if you do tire easily. It was less than a mile walk, but you just have to be very careful and watch for rocks on the path sticking up or tree roots sticking up. I would suggest comfortable walking shoes, but all in all, it was very easy to walk and very nice to see. I bet it would be beautiful in the spring, but one warning would be wear bug spray in the spring because we passed through a swarm of gnats or baby flies.. I don't know which it was....and I'm told that they're a lot of them in the springtime. So don't forget you're Off. And I would definitely wear a sun hat because it was quite warm on the day we went, in the high seventies or low 80s.
