Wonderful family experience with a variety of animals from different continents. Habitats are realistic and created to ensure the well being of the animals and the enjoyment of the visitors. Animals looked well cared for. Interactive offerings for children. Admission was reasonable, but food...not so much for families. Bring snacks or food for a quick bite.

Loved it. This was my second time here but this time we went to the Africa side only. It was a long walk with two kids and a senior. But we enjoyed every bit of it. The park was very clean and the entrance price wasn't too bad. If you have small kids bring a stroller and/ or carrier. We also brought some snacks to the park. I definitely recommend this place.

Clean& fun. Well guided trails and trams to travel on. Good food is available at multiple spots in the zoo. Bathrooms are set throughout the whole zoo. And in great spots. The animals and environments are well cared for, and so magical to see. Strollers and handicap electric scooters available to rent. It really is worth the trip. And cheap tickets for such a large zoo. Recommended 100% for any age. Also, the paths are all shaded by trees so it's not miserable to walk in the blaring sun.

One of the Top Ten Zoos in the country FOR SURE! I enjoy walking around and seeing and photographing the plant-life and floral-life equally as much as I do the animals! This is an absolutely beautiful zoo! Well cared for and landscaped. We love bringing our little boy here and he has always enjoyed himself here too! He loves the outdoor playground areas they have here for kids! FYI - If you buy the yearly family pass here at the zoo, it is also good to get you into the Sylvan Heights Bird Park, which is equally as AWESOME!!! Best bird aviary I have ever been to! Amazing! It is in the exact opposite direction from Raleigh though, but WELL WORTH the visit!!!

Back packs are allowed. I took water in with me on last visit. They are subject to search. But I think they are allowed.
The zoo has American alligators but no crocodiles unfortunately.
The zoo is 500 acres of mainly wooded terrain. There is local wildlife there. I didn't see any wild snakes but I did surprise a raccoon that was trying to raid a trash can.
Motorized wheel chairs/scooters are $28 for the day and are first come first served. There are a few sizable hills (at least in the African side) so a motorized chair is worth the $$ if you must have someone wheel you around.
Yes. Right as you enter either gate, at the gift shop.

Last time I was here they made me check my baby. They have nice climate controlled cubbies
