Middle child in size of the three Mission Pueblos in this area. The unique Rock used in this mission is a red sedimentary type stone. It is an extremely good condition in the mission itself. There's also a very nice picnic area there under cottonwood trees. There is a Corel Trail which runs along the creek which was driving we were there but Phil's as soon as the rainy season comes. The Visitor Center is a little sparse and it's display. It is a beautiful unique area of New Mexico it has vast views of flat grasslands 4 miles. Very similar to what you see in Kansas.

Beautiful site and the history is remarkable. Not a long walk, but if you take in the history and enjoy the ruins you can enjoy yourself for a couple hours. Take a picnic- they have tables.

Well worth the time to see it. It is not large but the ruins are nice. The short 1 mile Spanish Trail provides nice views of the ruins.

All three of the sites at Salinas are impressive. I think that Quarai is one of the most impressive. The walls here are massive and gorgeous. There is another visitors center here in case you did not visit the one in Mountanair (but you can visit this this one as well).

Questions & Answers

How is the road to the ruins? Are they ok for a car or is a truck or 4 wheel drive recommended?

It's all paved. We had a dozen Mustangs up there. Nice little visitor Center and flush toilets.
