This place is totally broken. Half the shelves are empty. A best, there will be two employees posted at the self checkout. The pharmacy is perpetually understaffed. Lines extend the length of the store. The management is completely incompetent. It's the only general purpose retail store in one of the wealthiest cities in the country, and it's run haphazardly. The staff, who are the only ones who seem to care about customer satisfaction, are underpaid and overworked. If you can, shop elsewhere. Go to the Organic store or the Co-op, or drive to Espanola or Santa Fe. Get your prescriptions from another pharmacy.

Easily the worst shopping experience I’ve had in the United States (and most of the world). I was with a friend and when I mentioned to him I was going to purchase some sausages, which were openly displayed, the horrible cuss of an old man behind the counter screamed “WE’RE CLOSED.” The store was clearly open and he didn’t qualify his statement as to maybe the butcher counter was closed but he did communicate that his customer service training was obtained in Soviet Romania. Once we navigated the rigors of vicious staff we attempted to purchase the food we selected from this abomination of a grocer. We were shocked to find that no a single human was checking people out and of the 8 available self check out stations only 3 were functional. This resulted in a line of some 20 people deep all merely trying to acquire products in a means reasonably similar as to how it is done all around this state and the western world generally. Well as fans of capitalism we thought it best to avoid their Soviet era business model and took our business to the liquor store/Indian grocer LA liquor (they are the real hero’s - always go there never go to Smith’s). The mora of this story is that Smith’s is just garbage and they probably hate puppies. I would shop here if they a) completely overhauled their customer service & check out polices or b) if it was the only way to save my family from certain death. TLSR: this place sucks and the old man behind the counter at the butcher is just a horrible human. Caveat emptor.

Great store! Great choices of food, excellent BBQ and love the bar. Only issue is the disgusting goth kids that show up everyday near Starbucks causing trouble. Really bringing down the value of Los Alamos
