Fun little loop walk/hike! Bring a headlamp or flashlight. We went on a hot summer day and the lava tube was nice and cool.

We loved it. Make sure you bring a flashlight of sorts, we used our cellphones and barely saw a foot in front of us. There is a ranger station about a mile south of the tunnel, be sure to check in there if you'd like to know more about the history behind the area.

You gotta stop by this awesome free cave, it is unlike most of the other caves you have probably been too. Be sure to walk the path above the cave too. You will not believe your eyes!!

Subway Cave is a section of lava tube less than a third of a mile long, located between two areas of ceiling cave-ins. Substantial concrete steps have been constructed at both ends of the cave, providing easy access for all would-be spelunkers. Those who don't want to walk the full 0.5 mile loop can still get a great experience by entering the cave and turning around at any point.

Yes. We were there on the 3rd of Septemver.
People did but you arent supposed to. The floor of the cave can be rough and not very comfortable for their feet anyways. I wouldnt advise it
Yes. Its pitch black and you could get turned around in Lucifers Culdesac. Also the ground is uneven
