There is no actual visitor centre here now. We rang the phone number but apparently it is not operating but has not been closed. There are NO signs to direct us to the lone man who sits in The Country Coop shop at 53 Main st, Houlton, and is the visitor information. Leigh helped us but we missed the visitor centre experience. Edit: We have now put a sign up on the old visitor centre to direct people to Main St.

Does this rest stop offer free high speed wi-fi? Does all the rest stops in Maine offer high speed wi-fi for free?

The lady was very nice and provided us with all necessary information. We enjoyed driving through the solar system all the way to Presque Isle.

Good Morning Beverly, This property was previously owned by the town of Houlton. The State of Maine leased space at the property to operate a visitor center from the town of Houlton until the beginning of this year when the property was sold. At this point, I have not heard any word from reliable sources what plans the new owner has for the property. Currently the State of Maine is operating a visitor center at a temporary location in downtown Houlton while working towards finding a permanent location. Hopefully this will be soon. The address where the visitor center is currently located is: 53 Maine Street Houlton, ME, Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
Route 11 would be very scenic, if the colors are at peak.
