Great experience overall. Great location and view. One can walk to visitor center. And great food options across the road. Trail walking is all around and great great views. Morning coffee at 5 am at the cafe is so so good. Staff is nice, and Starbucks coffee is awesome. One star less is for: tiny rooms, no daily service, no elevators to get luggage, limited food options, ultra slow wifi (and you have ask the password at reception) and trees blocking the Mountain View rooms completely.

Visited with my three kids and other family members. Everything was fantastic, staff was super friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. Lots of good on site dining. Grounds were beautiful. Of course Denali was amazing. Took the train up from our cruise. Long train ride but very scenic.

Stayed here as an independent traveler in early July 2022 and not as part of any cruise packages. I was nervous after reading so many bad reviews but I was pleasantly surprised by the resort. The room was small but clean and comfortable. No air conditioning which was a bit tough with how hot it got during the long July days. This makes it necessary to leave a window open and other guests/staff walking by aren’t very quiet which can make sleeping in tough. Doesn’t seem like many places around here have a/c, so this probably doesn’t set them apart much. If arriving by train, they have a luggage service which was nice but a bit limiting. Bags had to be outside ready for pickup by 6am the morning of departure (and our train didn’t leave until noon). We only went to the Fannie Q saloon (on-site restaurant) and though it had a limited menu, the food and service were both good. We also grabbed a couple drinks one night. The shuttle service is excellent and the main appeal for staying here. The views were also great and you can walk to other nearby restaurants which aren’t too far at all. Skip the grab and go breakfast service on-site and opt for the Black Bear cafe across the street which is much better and comparable in price. We were a little disappointed that there aren’t any pools or hot tubs on-site, but honestly it was too hot anyways.

Location is perfect - views are great. I get that this resort has been closed for 2 years and just reopened - they should in no way be booking the volume of rooms that they are. They only have 2 working restaurants both of which are very understaffed! 2 hour wait for a pizza with raw toppings. Rooms are hit or miss with cleanliness. We had blood on the back of our bathroom door. The lack of things to do at the resort is astounding! I do not fault the staff - they are being seriously over worked. I fault corporate for putting $$ over service by over booking a resort with no intent on fulfilling guests basic needs!
