I've rented kayaks from this location multiple times with large and small groups of friends every time the trip was affordable, convenient and fulfilling. I plan to kayak from here again!

Great day on the river. Easy in and out of the river for young n older people.

Great experience! Rented a canoe for two adults and a dog. They drove us in a van to a drop-off point and carried the canoe and helped us get settled and onto the water, and then we had an easy 3-4 hour trip back to the start point. There was one spot where we had to walk the canoe a bit because the water was low that day, but it was mostly smooth easy stress-free paddling, with great service.

Make sure to book a reservation! Simply a recommendation, not a requirement. Some of the staff are wonderful, others - not so much. I kayaked for the first time this summer and didn't know much about what to expect especially about the different types of kayakes. Other people within separate groups were also confused. This was very apparent. The staff who rode us out were not helpful. At all. The man who drove us all out speeds uncessarily on small, windy roads which is a little uncomfortable but.... Once out on the water, everything was great. Take your time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Soak up the sun and live in the moment. If you go in the late afternoon, you have about 3hr to get back to shop. I recommend going out during the morning.

I'm not sure why they are closed but possibly because water level is so very low on the river. Last trip I took out had to drag kayak over riverbed. And it hasn't rained in awhile.
Hi, Tim. There are a couple of camping options. One, there a campground at Loyalhanna Lake, which is just a short drive from Saltsburg. The second is that Avonmore Borough allows primitive camping at their launch site. You could paddle 12 miles from the Conemaugh Dam to Avonmore, camp there, and then float an additional 7.5 miles to Roaring Run in Apollo the following day.
Angela, please give us a call (724-252-8520) sometime to talk about options.
