I have enlisted 9 clocks to Mr. Gainey for repair over the past three years. In each case, he was very communicative about the needs of each clock, the options for repair and the costs involved. Having these clocks back in working order, in some cases working better than ever, has been a great joy. Antique clocks are a mix of pleasure when they are working and then angst when they aren't, especially in finding someone with a broad base of knowledge and the experience to implement that service. The fact that I keep returning to his shop for service (nearly 400 miles round trip) speaks to the level of trust and confidence I have in his skills and abilities. I was very pleased with the precautions taken during the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic that allowed his work to continue while minimizing the risk to his customers.

The owner and his son are very knowledgeable and I would recommend them to anyone. The sign of how good they are is how busy they are. I have a 60-year-old black forest cuckoo clock that was on its last legs from wear and tear when I inherited it. In about 10 years since them repairing/restoring it, I've had it in only for minor adjustments and to have the regular maintenance oiling done, their work is that good. I HIGHLY recommend these guys and would trust my clock with no one else.

This is a Herschede Grandfather Clock built in the mid 1990's. It is made of walnut and walnut burl. Mr. Gainey had a new finish placed on the weights and he and his son did a spectacular job on it. He also fully serviced the clock, repairing whatever was necessary to get it ticking and chiming perfectly again. Since I live in another state, Mr. Gainey spent a couple of hours to clearly explain and demonstrate how to safely take the clock apart and put it back together again. The notes and videos allowed me to have it up and ticking and chiming in a couple of hours. He quickly responded to my text inquiries for the couple of questions that I had. I do not feel that I was overcharged for either the clock itself or the value of the work he put into it. Thank you.
