Due to my son, the policemen that have been to our house countless number of times have always been professional, courteous and kind. Even when provoked they were calm and professional. Thank you for your service.

I tried calling the Redlands Police Department last night, but there is almost no way to contact the police department with non-emergency calls. Almost every time I have tried, I've only reached a recording, and been on hold for ten minutes or more, then eventually cut off and had to try again. One time, a couple of years ago, I did get through to talk to some guy and he was rude. Cops finally showed up over an hour later, but it was too late and didn't matter anymore. ***************************** The next morning: This is a response to the answer (see below) from the Redlands Police Department to my original post. Their message appears to be a form letter. It provides the non-emergency number, which is the one I called. It then states that by pressing 1, you will be connected "immediately" to a dispatcher. This is a blatant falsehood. I pressed 1 and was automatically put on hold. About every minute, a recorded voice reminded me that I was on hold. I waited about 10 minutes, then there was a click and a busy signal--I had been cut off. I called back on the non-emergency number, pressed 1 again, waited on hold, and the same thing happened. There was no way to contact the police department by telephone. Apparently they are closed evenings. So as a last resort I sent an email to their email address, which their website states is for emergencies. I wrote "non-emergency message" in the header to make sure nobody would get excited. I explained my non-emergency problem briefly, in plain language so that even a low-comprehension reader could understand. I have received no response, and as far as I know no action has been taken regarding the problem I contacted them about. As you can see below, however, they were quick to respond, with erroneous information, to my critical review here.

They're nice, very courteous. But sometimes are overwhelmed with other issues. I personally wish they'd do warrant round-ups. Some scumbags scattered around. If you want to look like a gangster and act like a jerk, then go to another area. Why on earth someone would want to bring down the community and harm fellow citizens is beyond me. I think the PD does a wonderful job. Blue Lives Matter!

I have lived in Redlands for over 40 years. Every interaction that I have had with the police has been fine. They were always courteous when they gave me traffic tickets; always helpful when I called with a need or report. I would like a kind, helpful attitude toward the homeless people. A long time ago the police would drive to where the homeless were on a cold night and bring them in to the Cold Weather Shelter. The antagonism that some of the police have against the homeless has escalated in the past 5 or so years.

Ms. Adams, Thank you for your interest in traffic safety in Redlands. Due to budget cuts that occurred during the recession, the Redlands Police Department does not currently have a dedicated traffic unit. Traffic issues are handled by patrol units as they are able, along with all regular calls for service, or by units working specialized, grant-funded overtime traffic enforcement. This month the Redlands City Council approved funding for two additional officers who will be assigned to a dedicated traffic unit beginning in January 2019. As always, the Redlands Police Department will continue to address all public safety issues, including traffic enforcement, to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors to the city.
Report crime or suspicious activity to Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681 ext. 1. Certain non-emergency crimes may also be reported online using the Redlands Police Department’s CopLogic reporting system at www.cityofredlands.org/report-crime. Suspicious activity and tips can be reported using the City of Redlands 311 mobile app available for Android, iPhones, and iPads.
There is a huge issue on Nevada St. It is not a truck route, though the USPS trucks drive up and down it all day and sometime nights. I've watched them hardly stop at all through the stop sign at Nevada and Orange Ave. (Cars do it too). Now there are two semis that are parking their trucks for days on Nevada (near Heritage park). Please take care of the parked trucks and please patrol Nevada at Orange Ave for both illegal trucks and traffic violations. Also, the trucks are ruining the road, and are flying down a very narrow road at Barton and Nevada.
Please contact Commander Rachel Tolber at (909) 798-7635.
