STILL ONE OF LA AMAZING PLACES TO VISIT AND SEE LA OPERA'S PERFORMANCE... AMAZING SOUNDS FROM THE " AIDA " PERFORMANCE EXQUISITE VOICE AND DANCE... EXCELLENT TO VIEW AND KEEP SPECIAL OCCASION MEMORY...

Great theatre with modern upgraded conveniences like multiple subtitle screens for operas. However, even in the middle of the orchestra, I felt the sound was a bit low. The lighting on the stage was the same. The theatre is huge though. The L.A. Opera production was fantastic nevertheless. The Christmas decorations, dioramas, and opera costumes on display were very nice. Lots of food options for the intermission

Located atop Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles, the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion is LA's Opera House. It is a large, acoustically good auditorium. It is located on a wide plaza co-located with the Mark Taper Forum and the Ahmanson Theater. All three buildings are lovely and the plaza has a fountain, sculpture, outdoor seating for drinks and food and fantastic views of Downtown Los Angeles. Even if you don't attend a performance at one of the theaters, it is well worth a visit. It is totally free to walk around and enjoy yourself.

Its biggest downside is that it sits right next to the Walt Disney Hall. Jokes aside, it's a nice venue, I've been there a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the events but it's somewhat older and the ambience and acoustics are nowhere near its neighbor. Still though a nice venue and obviously, you go more for the event rather than the place itself.

Plenty but many of the spots are closed at night since there are a lot of office buildings in the surrounding area
On Grand Avenue , if coming out of the parking lot and going towards 1st Street it's the doors right after the restaurant

Metrolink train to Union station , then take the red line to Civic center. Or take foothill transit to DTLA then to the redline train or silver line bus.
No. It is a purposeful decision by the institution. They consider cel phones and social media usage on grounds a tremendous disruption during productions; being that many visitors still have to work on their social graces and etiquette. If you are attending one of their beautiful productions the staff and ushers are very strict and direct about confronting you if you don't comply with respecting others space to enjoy the art being showcased.
