A relatively flat walk with just a couple hills. There are many nice views of the Deschutes River along with the lava fields across the water, and several small waterfalls and areas of rapids and eddys. The downside is that it was very dusty, and the public latrines were extremely smelly. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

I suggest West over East side if you want a quick view of the falls. There is much less parking but seems less known and a further drive. The views are great from either side. Trails are wide and expect hikers, bikers and horses. Easy for strollers or smaller children too, there are areas to keep children very close as the viewing areas are steep or slippery.
