A friend and I enjoyed Intro to Sea Kayaking today, aiming to learn safety skills for an upcoming kayaking trip in Channel Islands National Park. We had experience kayaking and canoeing on many occasions in diverse settings. However, this class improved our knowledge of kayaking a lot. For instance, we practiced dressing properly to avoid hypothermia, exiting the kayak underwater if it flips, helping a friend if their kayak flips, and getting back into our boat if it flips when no one else is around. We know we need more practice in the bay and then rougher waters. Yet, we already feel greatly reassured that we now have a solid foundation for making the most of kayaking adventure without going dangerously past our limits. Chris was an excellent instructor. He presented thoroughly detailed information in a well-organized, well-paced engaging fashion. He demonstrated skills effortlessly and was patient helping us learn from our mistakes.

Their staff team is very nice and friendly. The kayaking is easy for a single person because the water is very calm. I saw two sea lions' skin surfacing on the water for breathing.

This is an amazing place if you want to go kayaking. The people are really friendly and they provide all the equipment you need including paddle jackets the kayaks are in really good shape top-notch with battles in good condition everyone works hard to keep the equipment clean. Launch the kayak you walk out into the sand into a nice launching area, and then you get in the boat. We went in a 2 person kayak and went out a bit. We saw Sea lions and pelicans everywhere. This was an awesome experience and I'd recommend it to anyone in the area. They give you full instructions so you know what to do.

We kayaked at Half Moon Bay in April. They had a good-sized kayak for 2 paddlers with a little seat between that held our (very small) 10-year-old. (She was probably about 45 lbs. at the time.) Had a great time!
Ask about wetsuits. They don't have plugs for the kayaks, so they take on water.
The shore in front of the rental shack appears to be divided into rental/public sections. If not, there's a public boat launch 2 min walk down the road, plenty of parking usually.
Yes, you can rent just the SUP. Don't know about the cost.
