Beautiful views and space. Easy hike. Different wildflowers bloom different times a year.

This is the time to chase down the blooms of wild flowers at Tom McCall Preserve near Hood River, OR. This is one of the gorgeous hike during this time of the year. The good thing about this hike is that you don’t need to hike up to the top to see the wild flowers like Dog Mountain. You just walk for a little bit and soon you will see a big field of wild yellow flowers with the Columbia River in the back drop. Watch out for rattle snake.

Wonderful drive on old Rt 30, imagine cars in 1938 passing by, up to a spacious parking area and path overlooking the Columbia River. You can see 30 miles East and West of the mighty Columbia and North to the Washington Cascade foothills. Late April through May the wildflowers are dazzling.

Beautiful hiking area with exquisite views of both Mt Hood and Mt Adams along the Columbia River Gorge! Apparently there are rattlesnakes in the warmer months, but we had no problem during the winter. Definitely a must see along with Rowena Crest! Truly etherial!

Normally in April. This year they will come early.
Good question...not sure. I should know that.
Pretty much year around. Can be muddy depending on weather, but usually beautiful wild flowers and great views of the Gorge!!
