Absolutely great place for kids and adults..Plenty of sunshine and Ocean views with a playground for the children. Also sheltered picnic tables with provided grills

Absolutely beautiful park, pier and beach! My favorite place to go with my own family and with the families I photograph. Here’s a few of my favorites from Sandbridge family photo sessions.

Wide open beach that can get extremely crowded during peak-season. We stay clear that time of year! People act like this place is a secret; but so many people think that that it defeats the purpose. We only come here during the off season. If you can manage to get out here on a weekday or a cooler weekend, it’s not as crowded and worth the drive. A bit off the beaten path compared to the rest of Hampton Roads; but that’s a good thing! A lot of facilities; just be aware the southern bathroom building is closed during the off-season. But at least the parking is free then too. Decent waves. Great for dolphin spotting.

Great little park on the beach. Had a fishing pier. Wasn't busy at all however I went in the middle of winter I imagine summer time is a lot different.

Can out of state residence use this beach/ park?
Yes, plus covered ramadas with tables. The ramada can be reserved if need.
The fishing is pretty good. Bloodworms or bloodworm fishbites on drop rigs seem to work pretty good on this pier. Squid variety works well also.
I would get there between 8 & 9. That way you'll be able to get a spot under the pier. This allows for social distancing while having a personal section for your family. Parking is tight but there are plenty of spaces. I was there two weeks ago and didn't see any jellyfish. If you want jellyfish, go to Ocean View lol
Not nearly as crowded as the oceanfront. We have been on Saturdays late in the afternoon and had no problem with distancing.
Camelback with a half gallon of straight whiskey. Problem solved.
$1 for Virginia beach residents $5 for non Virginia beach residents
The current was calm when I was there. Yes there are baby sharks, not sure about bacteria
I don't think overnight is allowed as the whole park has closing hours.
