The Cottages at Dam Neck

Less than a 5 minute walk to the beach just off the Dam Neck base entrance. Cottages are simply appointed and include washer and dryer. We enjoyed listening to the ocean from the back bedroom at night. Best for families or a small group.

Three weeks ago I got married at the shifting Sands right next to the Cottages so it was very convenient to spend two nights there. The Cottages were very big, bigger than I expected. They were very clean and had everything we needed. Number one was the best since they had a beautiful ocean view but the other two Cottages did not have a view it was blocked by the sand dunes. We still had a great time and recommend 100%. Stop was very nice and professional.

Stayed here 3x - it used to be great but this last time it was extremely run down. Broken screen on porch, no central ac - booth which allowed bugs into cottage. Cabinets and drawers in kitchen smell so awful it's gag worthy. Manager at the Dunes less than helpful. Just extremely disappointing because we loved it here. Only giving it 2 stars because of access to the beach and playground.

Review update after returning in July 2018. Our units this time have much more comfortable furniture. We battled the sandy laminate flooring by wearing sandals the whole time. Still a great place to stay. The location is fantastic, right on the beach with just a short walk over the dunes. The units are OK. I wasn't a fan of the laminate floors throughout as there's a constant battle with sand and you can feel every grain under your feet. The living room furniture looks like it belongs in a hotel lobby, very plastic-like and rigid and our 2 bedroom unit had only 2 TVs (the kids bedroom was without). Those are the big nitpicks though otherwise it was a great experience and we plan to return.
